Works-for-me Wednesday

I've never actually given a Wednesday helpful tip, as so many other bloggers do, but I'll ask your forgiveness in advance for the inane subject matter of this introductory WFMW.

Problem: Imagine a small whale, forlorn and beached, unable to flip over, destined to remain in one single position for the rest of his blubbery life, unless rescued.

Or, if that's too far-removed, picture yourself attaching a medium-sized watermelon to the front of your abdomen using, perhaps, a belt. You lie down in your bed for some relief, but for obvious reasons, you can lie neither on your stomach or your back...I mean, there's a watermelon there, for Pete's sake. So you choose instead to lie on one side. But after a few hours in this position, you desire to switch directions. Rolling over is involved. Easier said than done, considering, if you'll recall, there's a watermelon strapped to you.

This is how a woman in the second half of her pregnancy feels during the night. Or at least this pregnant woman does. I realized my already-interrupted sleep was becoming more interrupted by the annoying need to roll over. It felt like a monumental task at times, getting that localized extra weight to shift comfortably into the new position.

Solution: Satin sheets. Ah, so very comfy, and even better, slippery! Yes, I decided an inexpensive set of slick satin sheets would be well worth the investment if it meant a better night's sleep. And now I can honestly say I don't wake myself up anymore from needing to roll over. It's virtually effortless, much like flipping a fried egg in a well-buttered frying pan.

Stephanie,
Too funny! And probably true, too. Are you serious about this?
Why didn't I think of that 5 or 6 pregnancies ago? By the time I reach the end, I almost *can't* flip over!

I can sooooo relate to this! Turning over really is a monumental undertaking when you're in late pregnancy! Great tip.....I'll try it next time!

satin sheets... sounds amazing!

I'm not in town right now, but I will be there next weekend (28th-30th). I want to see you and the fam! Maybe we can have a small visit soon? If not then, definitely over December break!

Love you!

Wow, Stephanie, I never thought about that. Maybe I will have to get some on those next time I am pregnant. I can also hardly roll over towards the end.

Steph, it looks like you are experiencing many different animal forms this month, a whale and a slug. I can't wait to see what you morph into next. I am hoping for a catepillar so then you an inch around, eat alot and then turn into a beautiful butterfly. Great entries! Love, Sarah

Steph,
I've been meaning to ask...is this still working now that you're much bigger?

Kim: absolutely! The satin sheets work like a charm, even days out from delivery. Wish I had discovered them 2 pregnancies ago!
