Every time I sit down with an idea of what I want to blog about, I seem to be needed elsewhere. So I'll get around to some "real" thoughts soon, but for now, a piece of useless information:
Between the two babies, I currently change around a dozen diapers every 24 hours. That means that if popular opinion is correct, and boys potty train later than girls, over the course of the next year I'll be changing approximately 4,380 diapers! (Give or take a few, since Daddy and grandparents and friends change a few here and there.) Good thing it's a chore I don't mind doing, eh?
It's funny how some people talk about diaper changing as though it involved swallowing slimy grubs. It really doesn't bother me in the least. I've always found it to be a fun time to bond with my babies, talking to them, tickling them, kissing on their feet (until they learn to walk). It's satisfying to tend to someone else's most basic needs. Babies' helplessness is one of the things that makes them most endearing at times. What could be more of an act of service than taking a small stinky person who can't make themselves clean and offering them a fresh start in a nurturing way? After all, Christ does that for us daily...

I love you, Steph. I'm so glad that you are doing well. I hope that I get to see you soon... but I probably won't be able to until this summer. We will definitely have to hang out, and I can even babysit if you wish! :)
I, too, have never minded diaper changing duty & it's a good thing; when #7 arrives in 4 weeks we will have THREE in diapers ~ with the oldest showing no signs of being ready to potty train....

I think that this was a beautiful blog entry. You have perfectly described the joy of motherhood: caring for and nurturing what God has put in our hands for a short while. I am glad that you are enjoying it.
I don't know - 4,380 doesn't sound like a small number, of course, but one every two hours really doesn't seem that bad. Ha. Imagine what it would be like if you had quintuplets!
Your baby is beautiful, by the way. :-)
If this is not what you consider "real" thoughts, then I'm toast! :) This is more profound than what I have ever thought about while changing diapers (which I, too, usually don't mind).
Serving in the diaper trenches with you (although I think your trench is deeper than mine!),

But when they're 3+ and perfectly capable of going on the potty and just refusing to? Something about diaper-changing loses its charm then. I know David likes me to meet his basic needs and all, but I'm tired of the stinky poops!
