Happy birthday to our little guy today!
He's our irresistable charmer whose smile is way too endearing. He speaks in run-on, run-on, run-on paragraphs, is extremely eclectic in his little packrat collections, and has recently taken a crushing blow upon finding out that dinosaurs are extinct. He has a tenderness towards all things baby that is uncharacteristic of most boys his age, and loves rocks, tractors, and books. His current noun of choice is "water buffalo". As in, "Hey! That looks kinda like the color of a water buffalo!" or "My sandwich is shaped just like a water buffalo." (I have no idea.)
He's gone from "Caution Boy" to "Volume Boy" in just a matter of weeks. (He still isn't too keen on taking risks, but now his volume knob is perpetually stuck on "break sound barrier", so at least he lets all the neighbors know about his hesitations.)
He has very mature taste in music (only Classical will do, and he will tell you so), and loves to sing all the time. He has recently decided to turn bedtime-evading into an art. Or a sport, I'm not sure which. He is our happy-go-lucky guy, and whether he's thrilled or being contrary, he does it with his whole body. Although he's starting to be less free with his affection, he still tells us he loves us many times a day.
We love you, too, Garfield. Very, very much.

We must get our kids together- they are so similar! Except for the boy/girl things. :) Can't say Grace is into dinosaurs, but she does love "snorts" (backhoes) still.
And please tell me you've cracked the bedtime evader's code- we pull our hair out over it all the time!

Happy (belated) birthday, Garfield - I can't believe you're 3!! I still have a soft spot in my heart for you - from when you were about 4 months old! You've been a charmer since then!!
Happy birthday, Garfield! I love that with all the details of what he likes and does, this post could only describe him. At three he is so wonderfully unique!
He sounds like a little boy after my own heart...especially the musical taste.
Now that he's 3, is he old enough to eat up? He is SO precious!
