Oh, the weather outside is frightful...

...but hibernating is so delightful! Other than a somewhat oppressive case of cabin fever that we're all experiencing, we're trying to make the best of these unusual weather conditions. San Antonio has ice, sleet, and even some snow, so several of the highways are closed down. Schools are closed, businesses are closed, and at least one major hospital cancelled all appointments and surgeries. Yes, I know it sounds funny to take such extreme measures for a bit of ice, but the truth be told, we South Texans really don't know how to drive in this mess.

So we stay home. We nap, read, drink hot cocoa, watch movies, and revamp our prayers to include labor not starting until the weather improves. My doctor's office was closed today, so I got to skip my appointment and the dreaded induction discussion.

On another note, today is my dear father's birthday. He graciously offered to give up his birthday for his new granddaughter, since he doesn't use it any more. (While the offer was tempting, I think this little girl knows better than to make her mommy and daddy try to drive to the hospital in these dangerous conditions.)

Dad, I love you dearly. I've treasured our relationship, especially since I've become an adult, and knowing how much you relish your role as Grandfather makes me love you all the more. Other than my husband, you're the only person about whom I can say it's scary how alike we are, despite our marked differences. Thank you for your love, your guidance, your encouragement, your praise, and for loving my children as much as their Daddy and I love them. And most of all, thank you for your love of God's Word, and for being an earthly father that reflects my Heavenly Father.

Well I'm sad, because it looks like I wouldn't be able to get to the hospital to be with you for delivery if it happens in the next 12-24 hours :-( So, I'm hoping, too, that labor will wait a bit!

Babies are such 'know-it-all's, aren't they? Thinking they know what's best for us, when WE know that WE will be much better off when THEY aren't sitting on our bladder and trying to break our ribs. Ah babies. Good thing they come out so cute or they'd be in big trouble. Enjoy the winter! It finally turned cold here and had a few flurries...hopefully more in store for us!

If you are as calm as you sound, I admire you greatly! I am always a wreck, desperate for any distraction to take my mind off the fact that I am late. With baby #5 I was 10 days late and an absolute basket case at the end. Praying for calm and patience and peace of mind for you as you wait!

Are you sure you're not holding on just to keep your blog hopping? :)
