Pick a Flick

Don't judge a movie by it's name. We've seen two lately that I'd recommend, neither of which have titles that do them justice. And since finding movies at Blockbuster (that aren't trash) is harder than locating the proverbial needle in a haystack, hopefully this will help you out the next time you want to rent a movie. (We're always eager for suggestions, as well, so if you've seen any clean winners lately, please comment.)

The first is called "Ladies in Lavender". It's about two elderly sisters, living in England, who find a foreigner washed up on their shore. The relationships they develop with him bring about all sorts of emotions, reminding them of their past, as well as pasts they wish they had. It's a sweet story.

The second is the more well-publicized "Cinderella Man", with Russell Crowe. Despite the title, it's not a "chick flick", but has something to draw in both genders. It's as much about the love and sacrifice of a family as it is about boxing, and it's great to see someone appropriately dubbed a 'hero', rather than some anti-hero you're supposed to be cheering for. It's based on a true story, and the main character actually has integrity--imagine that.

Neither of these are kid movies, but I don't think you'd find them objectionable for teenagers. Happy viewing!

Steph,
I LOVED Cinderella Man. It was very, very good. If I watch any good movies this week, I will definitely tell you!
P.S.
Thinking of starting a blogger again. I miss your comments! :)
